Some rugged northern countryside today, as you pass through Northumberland, Durham and Yorkshire. Early in the day you will pass the Holy Isle of Lindisfarne out to sea on your left.
With the North York Moors to your right, and some lovely seaside towns on your left, you should be in for some very enjoyable driving, with plenty of lovely seaside towns en route - Staithes and Robin Hood’s Bay in particular. Science fans will be intrigued to note that just outside Staithes you will pass the Boulby Underground Laboratory, where projects include research into Dark Matter.
Whitby is also a particular standout. Overlooked by the brooding Abbey, you can Spot the Goths in their natural habitat, paying homage to Bram Stoker in the setting for his classic novel, Dracula.
Our stop this evening is at the Tickton Grange Hotel, just outside the rather elegant market town of Beverley.
