Another driving highlight from last year, the Lake District, promises some superb scenery, with Windermere, Coniston and Esthwaite being the closest of the lakes to our route. Close by is Near Sawrey, home of Peter Rabbit creator, Beatrix Potter.
A flavour of the trip comes for Philip Porter’s blog of last year: “Barrow to Millom and then through Bootle were made for E-types and other cars that enjoy a good road: a mix of fast sweeping bends, tight snaking sections. long straights, delightful undulations and with glimpses of the sea on one side and stunning serious dramatic hills on’t t’other.”
A fine finish awaits at The Hunday Manor Country House Hotel, where the sweet-toothed can consume their stash of Kendal Mint Cake, doubtless purchased along the way.
